The 2022 season is officially over — congrats to the Kansas City Chiefs on winning the Super Bowl and beating the stinking Eagles, a team I despise almost as much as Dallas.
Washington wasted no time and hired Eric Bienemy as their new Offensive Coordinator. But most importantly, Bienemy will have complete control of the Offense and in hiring the Offensive staff. So, as a result, I’m sure he will try to poach some of his guys from Kansas City, most notably former NFL wide receiver Greg Lewis who has gotten some interest from NFL teams.
My only concern is how polarizing Bienemy seems to be amongst former players who played under him — some love him, and some flat-out hate him. Nevertheless, I think current Tight Ends coach Juan Castillo will be a solid buffer between Bienemy and the rest of the Offense, especially since they were both on Any Reid’s staff in Philadelphia.
Additionally, Denver’s new head coach, Sean Payton, made headlines by claiming to have had conversations with potential ownership groups about taking over as the Head Coach in Washington. This is troublesome; the idea that a new ownership group is willing to fire the entire coaching staff and bring in a new Head Coach right before the NFL Draft or even after it — is insane; it reeks of stupidity.
Anyhow, I hope whoever buys Washington allows the coaching staff to do their thing and continue to build around Sam Howell and lean on our top-rated Defense. Coincidently, all signs point to Washington putting the Franchise tag on Daron Payne, thus securing his services for at least another year.
Until draft week….
