*NFL WEEK 4 RECAP (2022 Season)

I’m disgusted beyond belief with how this game unfolded. Yes, I know the refs screwed us with many bogus calls. Nevertheless, we play like garbage, and this result is embarrassing.

Carson Wentz is not the real problem here — he is not getting adequate protection and not allowing enough time to make plays like he is capable of. The T.D. pass to Jahan Dotson was an example of how explosive this offense can be. Terry McLaurin needs to be featured more prominently. The good thing is that Curtis Samuel is starting to make his mark on our offense.

We had 148 yards of total rushing, so the ground game is not a problem. It is clear that we can run the ball effectively. Plus, RB Brian Robinson has returned to practice and might play Sunday or week 6. The Tight End game has not materialized yet; Logan Thomas is not back to his old form and didn’t have a productive game. John Bates is a good blocker but needs more balls thrown his way.

The constant penalties killed any positive offensive drives, and defensive issues and penalties ripped the heart out of this team. We fell behind and never recovered. Defensive problems continue to haunt this team from week to week. William Jackson III continues to struggle in coverage, allowing a score out of complete ineptitude on his part — so a benching might be in order. Kendall Fuller has been solid in his 2nd run in Washington; however, he has been inconsistent the last few weeks — He was part of a Super Bowl-winning team in Kansas City, so we expect better from him.

WASH 10 — COWBOYS 25

Next, Washington hosts Tennessee. The Titans are a leaky team, and if we shut Derrick Henry down, we have a legit chance to edge out a win. Washington has to make adjustments in the protection, even if they have to put extra RBs or TEs, but Carson needs to be better protected.

And for the rest of the league,

NY GIANTS 20 — BEARS 12

The Giants got lucky again by taking on another mediocre team like Chicago. The Bears’ defense was inefficient in stopping Saquon Barkley, who ran for 146 yards. In addition, Daniel jones left the game injured, and his replacement, Tyrod Taylor, also left the game with a concussion. Next, NY travels to London to play Green Bay. Advantage, Green Bay Packers.

The Bears could not capitalize on N.Y. not having a Q.B. in the 4th quarter. Disappointingly, Justin Fields has not looked very good so far this season. If he struggles this season, Chicago will have to make a tough decision. Next, Chicago visit Minnesota. Advantage, Minnesota Vikings.

EAGLES 29 — JAGUARS 21

The Eagles welcomed back Doug Peterson, the only coach to win a Super Bowl for Philly — I still feel that Dougie P was done dirty by Philly’s ownership and front-office people. Anyhow, the Eagles are 4-0, and they are the only undefeated team in N.F.L. Next, Philadelphia visits Arizona. Advantage, Arizona Cardinals.

The Jaguars shouldn’t feel too bad about losing this game; they are now 2-2 and are about to make some noise in their A.F.C. South division. Next, Jacksonville Hosts Houston. Advantage, Jacksonville Jaguars.

49ERS 24 — LA RAMS 9

The 49ers had a dominant performance against their top-division rival. Jimmy G was efficient, and Deebo Samuel was deadly with an incredible 57-yard T.D. catch and run. San Francisco’s defense is starting to come alive. Next, San Francisco visits Carolina. Advantage, San Francisco 49ers.

The Rams could not get anything going offensively. They only settled for 3 field goals, and Matthew Stafford was under siege for most of the game. It is too early to panic, but the Rams were supposed to be competitive this season, especially with all the free-agent talent assembled. Next, LA hosts Dallas. Advantage, LA Rams.

BENGALS 27 — DOLPHINS 15

After starting 0-2, the Bengals needed this win to get back into the contender conversation. Joe Burrow was better protected and had some solid stats. Next, Cincinnati visits Baltimore. Advantage, Cincinnati.

Tua left the game after a scary hit that left him shaken up on the ground; It was a hard thing to watch. Heads will roll for how Tua’s concussion diagnosis was handled the previous week. This incident will continue to be under investigation and scrutiny all season long. Next, the Dolphins visit the N.Y. Jets. Advantage, NY Jets (no Tua for a few weeks).

LA CHARGERS 34 — T.E.X.A.N.S. 24

After getting embarrassed by Jacksonville on week 3, The Chargers had to hold on for dear life to edge out Houston. The LA Chargers are an up-and-down team. They came not the season under tons of expectations, and they seem to be falling short. Next, the L.A. Chargers visit Cleveland. Advantage, Cleveland Browns.

The Texans were behind 27-7 in the 3rd quarter and managed to put up 17 points to make this a tight game. Houston is rebuilding ad playing hard for Love Smith. Next, Houston visits Jacksonville. Advantage, Jacksonville Jaguars.

CHIEFS 41 — BUCCANEERS 31

The battle of the fake G.O.A.T. against the potential future G.O.A.T. was fun to watch. The score looked close, but this game wasn’t really close at all. The Bucs were always trailing and never threatening. The Chiefs are starting to find their groove. Next, Kansas City hosts Las Vegas Raiders. Advantage, Kansas City Chiefs.

Tampa Bay is 2-2 and playing sloppy football. They have to figure out a way to add offensive weapons and give Brady a chance to compete for a playoff spot. Next, Tampa Bay hosts Atlanta. Advantage, Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

BILLS 23 — RAVENS 20

The Bills were behind on the scoreboard 20-3 in the 2nd quarter and went on a 23-point run for which Baltimore had no answer. Josh Allen was pretty impressive running and throwing the ball all over Baltimore’s defense. Next, Buffalo hosts Pittsburgh. Advantage, Buffalo Bills,

Baltimore let this game get away from them. Lamar Jackson had 1 T.D. with 144 yards and 2 picks, plus 73 yards on the ground. But the difference here was the interceptions and a missed field goal at the end of the game to seal the comeback win for Buffalo. Next, Baltimore hosts Cincinnati. Advantage, Cincinnati Bengals.

RAIDERS 32 — BRONCOS 23

Josh McDaniels finally won a game this season. Curiously, this was his first win as a head coach since 2010, when he was with the same team he had just defeated. Josh Jacobs was on fire, rushing for 144 yards and 2 T.D.s — The Raiders need to rely heavily on the ground game from now on and rely less on Derek Carr. Next. Las Vegas visits Kansas City. Advantage, Kansas City Chiefs.

The issues with Denver go beyond Q.B. play — Russell Wilson had an effective game, throwing for over 200 yards with 2 T.D.s and no picks — and running for another T.D. However, the Broncos need to start playing better complementary football to give Wilson a better chance to succeed. Next, Denver hosts Indianapolis. Advantage, Denver Broncos.

PACKERS 27 — PATRIOTS 24

Green Bay is beating up on bad teams but struggled to beat a crappy team like the Patriots without Mac Jones in overtime. The Packers’ supremacy over the N.F.C. North is about to come to an end this season, Minnesota and Detroit are poised to overtake them. Next, Green Bay hosts another crappy team, the N.Y. Giants. Advantage, Green Bay Packers.

The Patriots 3rd string QB Bailey Zappe was awful in replacing injured Brian Hoyer. As a result, New England is at risk of becoming the worst team in the A.F.C. East. Next, New England hosts Detroit. Advantage, Detroit Lions.

FALCONS 23 — BROWNS 20

The kickers and running backs were the stars of the show here. Marcus Mariota had mediocre stats, but the combination of RBs, Caleb Huntley, Tyler Allgeier, and Cordarrelle Patterson combined for 29 carries and 178 yards. Plus, Younghoe Koo was money on field goals; it was the recipe to victory for Atlanta, despite the poor Q.B. play. Next, Atlanta visits Tampa Bay. Advantage, Tampa Bay.

Jacoby Brissett, Nick Chubb, Kareem Hunt, and David Njoku were pretty effective in this game; however, Armani Cooper was neutralized by Atlanta’s defense, which made a massive difference in the outcome of the game. Next, Cleveland hosts the L.A. Chargers. Advantage, Cleveland Browns.

VIKINGS 28 — SAINTS 25

Justin Jefferson is coming into his own as the perfect complimentary receiver next to Adam Thielen — Jefferson ended with 10 catches with an impressive 147 receiving yards. The weapons are there for Kirk Cousins to take this team far in the playoffs. Next, Minnesota hosts Chicago. Advantage, Minnesota Vikings.

Not having Alvin Kamara available is a problem; not having Jameis Winston available is not so much. Andy Dalton did a better job moving the offense and provided a steady hand for New Orleans than Winston has shown in the first 3 weeks of the season. The Saints might have a Q.B. controversy brewing. Next, New Orleans hosts Seattle. Advantage, Seattle Seahawks.

NY JETS 24 — STEELERS 20

This young, up-and-coming N.Y. Jets team is starting to believe in themselves. Zach Wilson had an up-and-down performance, throwing for 252 yards with 1 T.D. and 2 picks. The Jets will give headaches to every team they play this season. Next, the N.Y. Jets hosts Miami without Tua. Advantage, NY Jets.

Mitch Trubisky was benched over rookie Kenny Pickett. And the result is the same. Pickett ended up with a sad 120 yards, no scores, and 3 picks. This is going to be a long season for Pittsburgh. Next, Pittsburgh visits Buffalo. Advantage, Buffalo Bills.

CARDINALS 26 — PANTHERS 16

Kyler Murray spread the ball effectively to all his top weapons. Marquise Brown, Zach Ertz, and James Conner were pretty involved in the offense, which is the blueprint for Arizona to turn into a more significant threat in the N.F.C. Next, Arizona hosts Philadelphia. Advantage, Arizona Cardinals.

The Panthers are wasting away Christian McCaffrey’s dynamic talent. Baker Mayfield is getting exposed week by week. A change is needed badly here. Next, Carolina hosts San Francisco. Advantage, San Francisco 49ers.

SEAHAWKS 48 — LIONS 45

Geno Smith had an excellent rebound game, putting in some solid numbers and no picks. I wonder how long Geno can sustain this momentum. It is still pretty early in the season to get a proper sense of which teams are the real deal. Next, Seattle visits New Orleans. Advantage, Seattle Seahawks.

The Lions can score and put on a good show, but they need to tighten their defense. Detroit will continue to be competitive in every game and make things interesting in the N.F.C. North. Next. Detroit visits New England. Advantage, Detroit Lions.

TITANS 24 — COLTS 17

Derrick Henry ran wild here for 114 yards and 1 T.D. Ryan Tannehill kept the ball safe with no picks and 2 T.D.s. The Titans are 2-2, and not all is lost yet. Next, Tennessee visits Washington. Advantage, Washington Commanders (always).

The Colts are not very good. Indy has nothing to threaten anyone significantly if you shut Jonathan Taylor down or minimize his effect in a game. Next, Indianapolis visits Denver. Advantage, Denver Broncos.
