*NFL WEEK 8 WASHINGTON COMMANDERS RECAP (2024 Season)

Hail Jayden! That was an epic win, one that will be etched in NFL history as one of the most improbable finishes ever. With impeccable protection, Jayden Daniels extended the play by scrambling and buying precious time for his receivers to get into position. Then, he launched a perfect pass, tipped slightly by Zach Ertz, before landing in Noah Brown’s hands for the game-winning score. It was, without a doubt, the play of the year in the NFL—and Daniels did it all with bruised ribs, making this achievement even more remarkable.

Washington’s offense struggled in the red zone, settling for four field goals instead of touchdowns, a decision that came back to haunt them late in the third quarter when Caleb Williams led two scoring drives. Still, the game remained surprisingly close, a testament to Daniels’ resilience. The offensive line deserves credit for the protection they’ve consistently provided this season.

The defense continues to show improvement, holding Chicago to just 15 points. However, there are still areas to tighten up, especially against the run and in some secondary coverage. Allowing Chicago two late scoring drives wasn’t a strong finish. Even so, with a dynamic young QB like Jayden Daniels, Washington has a bright future and a renewed sense of confidence.

Next up, Washington heads to New York to face the Giants in an important divisional game. Daniel Jones has struggled, and Washington’s defense has made strides since their Week 2 matchup. The Giants’ defense remains a threat, capable of creating problems, but if Daniels is healthier, Washington should have the edge. Starting strong and putting the Giants away early would mark Washington’s first season sweep of New York in years. My pick: Washington Commanders.

WASHINGTON 18 — BEARS 15
